Your driving test consists of 3 parts:
You need to pass the theory and HPT at the same time before being able to apply for your practical driving test. The theory and hazard perception test To prepare for both parts you should read the Highway Code and Theory Test books, available from most good book stores or the DSA. You can also download two FREE easy to use computer programs to help you learn the Highway Code and traffic rules.
The theory test consists of 50 multiple choice questions. To pass, you must answer 43 or more questions correctly within 57 minutes. Questions cover all driving topics and are chosen at random from a question bank. The HPT shows you a series of 14 one-minute video clips, each showing potential hazards involving road conditions, pedestrians or road users. There are 15 hazards to identify and you can score up to five points on each one, depending on how quickly you identify them. You need to score at least 44 out of 75 to pass this test.
